Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. PDFSpry adds page numbers locally in your browser. Your document is not uploaded for processing, and the numbered file is created on your device.

Can I number only selected pages?

Yes. Choose Selected pages and enter pages or ranges such as 5-15. The first page you choose shows your first page number, each following page shows the next number, and all other pages stay unchanged. With the Page X of N style, N is the last number printed.

Can I choose where page numbers appear?

Yes. Place numbers at the top or bottom of the page, on the left, in the center or on the right, in three sizes and at three distances from the edge. If a number overlaps existing header or footer content, try another distance or position. Numbers appear where you expect even on rotated pages.

Can the first page number be something other than 1?

Yes. The first page number is the number printed on the first page you choose, from 1 to 999,999. It doesn't change which PDF page numbering begins on. For example, to number a 15-page PDF from its fifth page as Page 5 of 15 to Page 15 of 15, choose Selected pages 5-15 and a first page number of 5. All pages with a first page number of 5 would print 5 to 19 instead.

Does adding page numbers reduce PDF quality?

No. PDFSpry adds the numbers as text and doesn't convert pages to images, so existing content keeps its quality. You can number one PDF of up to 100 MB at a time.
